The Troll Who Fell Through My School Ceiling
A parody project ("parody" used very loosely), described by my friend Michael fairly accurately as
a "horror platonic romance", following main character Letanno Byrghals and deuteragonist Yulilah Paean.
The monster gets kissed in this story.
This story was born from me feeling intrigued with "isekai" settings, yet consistently running into the same tired tropes all the time.
There was almost
always a loser main character, suddenly dying somehow and awakening as the most powerful and attractive creature in the world.
Aspects of the new worlds
being full of things that would be horrific to anybody sensible, yet warped into something "not very bad" when the main character engages with it.
The horror of never returning home, going ignored.
"The Troll Who Fell Through My School Ceiling" is heavily inspired by Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein", and more mildly inspired
by the videogame "Darkest Dungeon", many of Harvester's games like
"Burnhouse Lane" and "The Cat Lady", as well as incorporating visuals directly inspired by
aspects of edited photos where people would photograph themselves and edit in a fictional character to stand near them.
The visual contrast was hard to ignore. The series also incorporates inspirations from my real life, but I won't specify which parts!
Minor inspirations include the Silent Hill series, poorly written bully revenge stories, the series "Hi I'm Mary Mary" and various miscellaneous fanfictions.
Also when I was little and posting stories unbothered on my old DeviantART profile,
I posted a long-lost story about an entity arriving on an island of beings of different dimensions. I cannot
remember it
too clearly, but I think it was a 3D creature arriving on an island of 2D natives. To much chaos.
Synopsis
"The Troll Who Fell Through My School Ceiling" follows a 23-year-old mechanical engineering student by the name of Letanno Byrghals.
Letanno is haunted by
something that has happened in his past, experiencing surreal nightmares recreating the event.
He suffers from social anxiety and depressive episodes.
After having stayed late in college to finish up a project, Letanno is about to go home for the night when
suddenly the floor gives out underneath him.
He falls into the Otherworld, appearing to the Otherworlders as if having fallen through a school roof.
Letanno ends up landing on one of the natives, a highschooler, and causes the highschooler's arm and leg to break through the accident.
This marks Letanno's arrival to the Otherworld.
In this world, Letanno is seen as a giant, terrifying humanoid entity. Otherworlders look at him and
sees him as some sort of eldritch being, or monster. Likewise,
Letanno sees Otherworlders as lanky, smooth, fae-like entities that gives him chills to behold.
Letanno eventually meets and befriends an autistic Otherworlder named Yulilah Paean.
Yulilah takes Letanno to her family home, where he ends up staying as he attempts to
figure out what has happened to him, and trying to find a way back home.
